In 2003 Story Corps (storycorps.org) was launched in NYC and quickly spread across the country in an effort to build an oral portrait of America and Americans. Their stated objective is, “… to remind one another of our shared humanity, to strengthen and build the connections between people, to teach the value of listening, and to weave into the fabric of our culture the understanding that everyone’s story matters. At the same time, we are creating an invaluable archive for future generations.”
Emanuel is now following their lead and developing a compilation of members’ 10-minute oral reflections on their faith journeys through life, including what it means to be Lutheran. Recordings are stored and accessible on this website and on YouTube.com. We would ultimately like every member to be a part of this valuable collection.
